- I love a sage green...very calming. Maybe a tall light stand in a corner? Also an indoor waterfall...awwwww so soothing..and candles everywhere.
- Paint your walls off white or white satin latex......a good paint like benjamin moore. get some latex glaze (from benjamin moore too) and mix it with a little burnt umber tint (you can get this from the same paint store). when your white has dried, take a very large soft brush (a stain brush, or a special brush made for faux finishing that they sell at the paint store) and brush the light brown onto the walls, then dab some of it off with a rag. The color should be haphazard and very light-or you can make it as dark as you want. This second step goes really quick and it's easy. In the end, you have a really nice, classy, aged look on the walls and it hides little fingerprints and other flaws very well. You can do this technique with any colors, but you just have to experiment first. The white and brown tint are easiest so I mentioned them first. This two-tone technique lasts much longer than a solid color on the wall.
- pale yellow and different shades of red (but not scarlet) for the kitchen sage green and off white for living room fun, aqua-ocean colors for the bathroom i put a lot of mirrors in my house when my kids were small, they love looking at themselves *** i really like the 'nautical' theme for a kitchen...it has turned out great because now, with 3 hungry kids eating all the time, i call it my 'shipwrecked' kitchen, lol
- Make sure the paint you use is at least a satin finish--you want it washable. Use light soft yellows and whites for the main rooms and whatever color you like for the baby's room. Baby' s like bright colors, although parents always go for soft ones. Don't know why. Keep corners of furniture rounded and storage behind doors that can can be fastened. Real light maple European wood colors are nice. Look at Eurway catalog on internet.
- It is important that the color in the different rooms around the house come together logically. Analyze each of the tones; determine which colors, and in what proportions, they complement each other to give the final result. Here are ten household helpful hints for choosing room colors: 1 Brighten up the darker spaces by painting the walls in pale colors. 2 If you paint a high ceiling a dark color, will make it look lower. 3 A light blue or a gray make a small room seem wider. 4 Use the wall colors to mark off areas according to actives. 5 Red and reddish tones are bold, exciting colors which stimulate movement. They are especially suitable for work areas. 6 Yellows are warm, bright colors, ideal for dark spaces to make us feel cozy. 7 Green is essentially linked to life; it reminds us of nature and is perfect for interiors we want to connect with outside. 8 Blues are fresh, harmonious, and easy to combine. They remind us of vast extensions of sea and sky. 9 To make a room more radiant, you can paint the walls in light colors and introduce dashes of color through the furniture, complements, and ornaments. 10 Neutral colors like beiges and browns combine well with other tones and give the room a natural feel. Color is clearly the most visible linking factor between separate rooms and is ideal for giving consistency to the decoration scheme of a whole house.
