living with young kids in 2 story house?
my partner n i are looking in to building a 2 story house. we have 3 kids under 6. we want our bedroom up the top with the kids rooms on the ground level. is this a good idea or will we get sick of runnin up n down stairs in the night. i want advice from people who are already living like this please. do you think it's more convenient to have all bedrooms on the same level.

- just a thought they will grow up and be sneaking out of the house age before you know it. and you will sleep peacefully at the top unaware of what is down below.
- I have two kids. 7 and 3. All our bedrooms are on the same level. Upstairs. We wanted it this way so we can be in ear range and also not to have to deal with the worry of what if something happened. KWIM? We were also scared that if they got up in the middle of the night would they fall going up/down the stairs? What would they get into when we were sleeping? If you wanted to keep it where they live on separate floors, put their bedrooms up stairs and keep yours downstairs. When they are playing upstairs you can hear their footsteps as they run/walk around and tell what room they are in. It is easier to child proof besides the top stair and even now they have top stair gates and also if someone breaks into your house you are on the bottom level to hear an intrusion more quickly. If you are worried about windows (as we were) put baby gates in the windows. Hope everything works out for you.
- I think all bedrooms should be upstairs. As marlandz said they will sneak out as they get older.
