I have a 12 yr old girl and 2 three yr olds b/g. I was thinking about doing pink and blue or purple and Lt blue squares on one wall or maybe all of them? I just need some ideas. I really dont want any other colors. do you have any other ideas I could try?

- I would go with a light mint green (pastel color) and pale yellow .. fits both boy and a girl ..w/o being to much one sided
- mint green and light yellow are good colors for a boy and a girl. also purple and green or blue and pink would work too. you could also do stripes, squares, circles, or paint one wall one color and another wall a different color.
- You could paint it a light blue and buy some blue clues border to put around the wall(like in the middle of the wall).Blue clues are for boys and girls and you could probally find the borders with the pink dog on it too.Blue & Magenta dogs. I did my daughters room in light yellow with spongebob border. They loved it.
- lots of good ideas for shared bedrooms http://kidsthemebedrooms.com/shared-bedrooms/decorating-shared-bedrooms.html
- If you have a set of bunk beds you can buy a sheet of plywood and cover one side of the bottom and the opposite side of the top. Then put them in the center of the room. You could give the 12 yo the inside so she has some privacy. then paint the room in two separate colors. Let her choose her own color so she will be happier with the results. For the other side, buy pink and blue sheets sets. Mix and match them. Paint polka dots and/or stripes on the wall and find a throw rug with circles or squares. Hope this helps.
- I would avoid pink. It is too gender specific, unless your oldest daughter really favors it. She is the person most concerned, at 3 the other kids don't care much, and at 12, she is at the point where her environment is highly important to her. What I would do is go for mid tone primaries, or a mix of primaries and pastels in stripes or, as you say, a grid pattern. Mid tone blues, like Delft or Cornflower, work great with yellow, as do purples. Brown/blue combos are very trendy now, which might appeal to your older girl, and are very gender neutral. Whatever you do, I would let your daughter be a big part of the process. It will help teach her consideration & sharing as she has to take her brother into consideration in making decisions, and it will make her happier with the arrangement if she feels that she had some control over her environment.
- I have a 12 year old & I know at this age they are getting to that stage in thier life that they still want thier parents but still trying to gain that independency. I would suggest to ask her what she likes what colors she thinks. Even the 3 year olds could amaze you about deciding and helping out. Though I dont know how large the room is, I would suggest thier should be some kind of division of the room. Either get the girls together and have the boy be seperate or your 12 yr old seperate from the 3 yr olds. Which ever you decide to do you can transitions the styles together and make it safe for all age groups. A color that is very popular right now is brown. You can do pink & brown and blue & brown. Target has a lot of stuff that can help you with these color schemes. However the colors should really come from the children and then it would be easier to go from there. Ways to divide the rooms- Sheer fabric suspended from the ceiling. In strips added a link for you as well with some ideas. Storage in between. bifold screen that secures to the floor. etc. here is a link that can show you some ideas. http://kidsthemebedrooms.com/shared-bedrooms/decorating-shared-bedrooms-for-boys-and-girls.html I hope this helps!
