Kids Room Tips

Any tips on putting a toddler in a toddler bed?

My daughter is 1 and 1/2. She is trying to tear apart her crib, and doing a great job might I add, now she is working on the duct tape:) We have a small kids bed in her room that she can get onto. I am just wondering how to get her to sleep there and not wonder around the room. ohhh and what about doors to her room? Oh my more worries:) I would like to keep her in her room, but I know its unsafe to have all locks on all doors. Oh please help:)

  1. we have just moved my daughter into a bed shes was nearly 2, it took about 3 nights for her to stop trying to escape. Try a stair guard accross her door so she knows she cant get out. We originally moved out all her toys and out a latch on her wardrobe but she still paced the floor so we put them back in and she maybe plays for 10 minutes them takes herself back to bed.
  2. you can put a baby gate over the door(or two). Let her wander in her room(if it is safe) until she falls asleep. We were going to do this but my daughter cried so hard she puked. So instead we sat beside her bed till she fell asleep...eventually we sat by the door (i would read my book) until she fell asleep. It wasn't long before we could put her in her bed, say good night and leave and she would fall asleep on her own. She was 18 months when we started this....way to young. My son was 2 1/2 and the first time we put him in his bed he fell asleep on his own and when he woke up he didnt get out of bed until I came and got him. Good luck
  3. My son is 3 and finally sleeping in his toddler bed....it took awhile, but here is what we did. We put him it and then when he fell asleep we left. We did this for about a week....and he is now sleeping in his bed. The trick for him...is the Thomas blanket, pillow and sheets. Find some sheet and blankets that she loves...and tell her she can sleep with "Tommy" (for example) all night long!!! Sure, my son does wander into our room when he wakes up in the middle of the night, but we march him right back....and he is good to go until morning. Don't lock the doors....
