I have a room that I would like to make into a playroom but also utilize as a guest room, any suggestions?
I have a room in my home that I would like to use as a playroom, but also have available as a guest room when family and friends come to stay. I have a full size bed, and bookcase, toybox, as well as plastic containers to hold toys-would like to utilize these instead of spending lots of money to remodel. Any suggestions, or pictures of others playroom guest rooms would be greatly appreciated. Again, I would like to not buy any new furniture. I really want to know how I can make a multi-function room, and still have it look cozy for guests and fun for my kids. I want my guests to not feel like they are sleeping in a playroom, and my children not to feel like they are playing in a room that doesn't belong to them. I would like to use the colors: yellow, blue, and green. What about making the full size bed look like a day bed, but I don't want it to be to crowded. Any help It was posted in remodeling, but I thought I would ask mom's because maybe you have on in your home. THANKS! We do not have people stay over very often, but I wanted a guest room. I just didn't want to utilize the room only as a guest room once (if at all) a year. My children have bedrooms, and when there are people here usually the children are busy, or they play in their rooms for the weekend.

- I wish I had an extra room to do what you are doing. I really like your idea and you sound like you are on the right track. I like the idea of making the bed look like a day bed by adding pillows, maybe two round pillows on each side to make it look more like a place for sitting. As for the toys, just make sure they can easily be put away when guests are visiting. Choose patterns and colors that are pleasing to everyone and you are set! Good luck!
- I think organization and storage will be key. If you can use some baskets in addition to the plastic bins it will help give a "homier" feel. Definitely lots of pillows on the bed. And adequate space for your guests to put their belongings when they are using the room. Target and IKEA have some cute inexpensive products that will help to organize the room. When using those colors, make sure they aren't too bold so that it will be a calming room to sleep in.
- If you want your guests to be comfy, you have to have the toys hidden (use a screen)! Get organized, use soft colors and you will be fine.
- it's possible. get risers for the bed and get under bed storage. you can do alot but I'm going to "cut to the chase". if you have company stay over for a day or a week... where will the children play? not fair to the kids.
