Kids Room Tips

Decorating room tips?

I recently moved last summer to go to university. But im getting soo bored of my room. My bed is pink and for a kid thats like 5 (I dont really know why my mom bought these for me but w.e) and she also bought me pink curtains (this was all part of my graduation gift). So my room basically shines of bright pink. So i kinda want to make it look not so childish. I have like 3 book shelves different sizes and my own desk, my guitars all sit in the corner of my room by a closet. Does ne one know of ne ways to make my walls look better besides putting up posters?

  1. Paint your wall a deep chocolate brown (just one wall, probably the window wall). The other walls could be a lighter coordinating color. Add some sweet lime green accent pieces, maybe some glass gem type stuff and you've got some hot sense of style!
  2. you should get a bunch of different size pictures of friends fam etc. frame them all and make a mini collage You also can above your desk get a whiteboard/corkboard.YOu can have everyone write messages and write your to-do list YOu should also get a carpet YOu should go to a Marshalls or TJ Maxx whenever you have a chance they have alot of intresting things for your room and they are inexpenzive. GOOD LUCK

  4. I gave Davco a thumbs up because green is exactly what you need. Don't know about the choc brown in a small place. Rather then put time and money into something you leave behind (walls) invest in your own things...ALWAYS do fabric items first, you can match the paint to them. Get a couple of throw pillows for your bed (green or green print, stripes, dots) Paint your bookcases to match and it's fun to do something whimsical like putting pink dots on the outer lip of shelves, the sides and top. (Use a Q tip to apply) You can do a couple of picture frames to match. Maybe one green with slanted pink stripes. If you have an old ugly lamp that works, you can paint it, or add color to the shade, fringe beads, etc. If the shade is not a good one, and you wear pierced ear rings, you can poke the backs into the shade...it looks adorable and is handy. In fact, I buy junk jewelry and do shades like that just for the look. You can also drape necklaces over the shade or hang them from the finial (the tall hardware at the top of shade). I've seen adhesive backed dots, etc that can be put on walls...at Home Depot...a few of those would be cute. If you add what your curtains are like, I'll give you some ideas for adding green to them.( Priscilla's, straight panel?) Also, if you have anything unsightly that is always visible include that..maybe I can suggest a re-vamping. I always decorated, even when I was broke, it has served me well as I can give a new look to many things...don't need to now, but still do, I love it,
