Kids Room Tips

Anyone got any good ideas on decorating my kids room? I have a boy and a girl aged 2 and 3 sharing a room.....

I just can't see anything what would go for both a boy and a girl. They do spend alot of time playing in there so i want something whats bright and colourful, but i want to paint the walls not use wall paper. Any good ideas on colours to use which would suit both kids?

3. You could do a rainbow on the wall with any kinda background. Or do a neutral colour like yellow and use stencils to print cars and flowers or something so you incorporate both into the room . You could even do one half blue on half pink. Another good tip is get some chalk board paint and create a chalk board in the room so they can draw on it . Suprisingly they wont draw on the walls apart from the chalk board and its a fun thing to do in their room. If your not particulary good at painting and cant manage a rainbow different cloth of the wall could work do strips of different colours around the room. If secured tightly enough they then can play with them too like hide and seek etc games.
4. Gosh, at 2 and 3 just about anything would be fine. Don't get hung up on gender issues, there will be plenty of that coming from school later without you starting them off early at home!
5. Green and blue background. Farm animals would suit both and you could use stickarounds of the tweenies and bob the builder in the background.
6. How about a jungle theme? You could use lime green, light blue and yellow...maybe even get jungle animal stencils and put them around the wall...spray paint some shelving in the same colours...get them some colourful new toy boxes.
7. An outdoor look. Paint the walls with a large tree and make a chair which looks like it's attached to the tree as a swing.
8. My daughter recently redecorated her son's room. She painted only one wall, a deep blue-green color, (leaving the other three walls white) and then applied Nemo stick ons (they are repositionable, so you can easily pull them off with no wall damage). It was simple and easy, and I couldn't believe how great it looked!

10. my kids shared when they were younger before we got a bigger house and i painted their room yellow. It was bright and they seemed to like it. You could always put kiddie pictures up or be adventurous and try to paint some cartoon characters on the walls. I painted a huge Tigger for them and they loved it.
11. Yellow or Greens are suitable for kids. Perhaps a few animals or alphabets and numbers ideal for both sexes, or a few of their favourite cartoon characters.
12. What about a sunny Beach theme? Paint the lower half of the walls pale yellow and stencils or get sea side wall stickers to put on it. (like crabs, starfish, sandcastles buckets and spades) Paint the upper half a pale blue. paint on fluffy white clouds, bright kites and of course a yellow sunshine. This can work with other themes too.....try and look for sticker sets in diy shops (try Wilkinson's too) What about jungle, farm,or under the sea, If you use sticker sets they can be peeled off, then the room an grow with them with out too much work. Blackboard paint is always a winner. I painted the panels of my boys built in cupboards with it an they love drawing on them.
13. torquoirse blue (blue-green) is a cool color for boys and girls as is orange ,yellow....... jungle animal themes are cool for both boy & girl so are fish... colorful art drawings and such or black and white checked rug and colorful touches of all colors also you could try getting ideas from a children room decorating magazin they sell them in the grocery store or book store!! good luck and i am sure it will turn out great (especially since 2&3 are'nt generally picky ages when it come to room decor)...lol.. have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
14. Winny the pooh and friends, and lots of the primary or bright colours to co-ordinate the rest of the decor or bedding.

OH I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM!well i did think about seperating the room with a big net or something fancy and having have pink and half blue but it'd be too small looking that way!!what i did was painted the walls pink and blue army camouflage effect, my daughters wall where her bed is,is pink camouflage and my sons blue ad the other walls white.i then just laid a wooden floor and my daughter has a pink mat by her bed and my son a blue one. they have duvet covers matching their walls. then they both have a toy chest ones pink and ones blue you can guess whos is who!
16. Definitely YELLOW it is bright and you can add a colourfull Disney boarder then frame some Disney pictures to put on the walls. They will love it.
17. My favorite mixed gender color for kids is apple green. It is bright and cheery and unisex.

A magical fairy type scene...........blues around the boys bed bringing to pinks and mauves around the girls bed like a sunset going sideways...then over the boys side you could have shooting stars...and I am hoping you can draw...unicorns....wizards etc...and as it moves around to the girls side fairies etc. Then you can get bedding for each to match the mood....or even plain colour co-ordinated. Got carried away a bit.... So the theme will be dark blues to purples to pinks....I know that we should not assign colours to genders but it is going to happen naturally....my two girls thought the word Barbie was the word for pink...!
19. EVERY KID LOVES LIGHT BLUE AND LIME GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So on a white wall paint a big blue circles and a small green circle and other shapes on the same walls. This will help the kids learn their shapes or if you put the name of each shape it will be fun and easy for the kids to learn their shapes,.
20. Red, Blue, Green, Yellow. All the basic colors. Balloons, Animals, Sesame Street figures, numbers, the alphabet, circus figures. There are a lot of fun wallpaper borders. Colorful plastic boxes for toys etc. Stencil their names above their beds. Each child should have their own personal shelf for their use only. This will give them a sense of being special as well as learning to respect the rights of others while still sharing. Think what they would have in a nursery school and follow that theme.
21. Buy a cheap projector (put on top of picture, it lights it and projects image on whatever you want) project characters from books (like Pooh or Tigger or Rue) Can use paint, colored pencils or my favorite [Sharpie] for outline and fill in with paint of your choice (I like acrylic). Can make them whatever size you choose, lots of places (Sears, K-Mart, Wal-Mart) sell stuffed animals, lamps and other accesaries to finish off your decor.
