  1. how does the dirt get in there to begin with?
  2. Thats the million dollar question. My 5 year old thinks 'tidy your room' means 'shove everything under the bed so mummy cant see it'. I dont think there is a miricle cure for kids mess, you just gotta clean up after them, and as soon as they are old enough, teach them how to use the vacuum.
  3. Does she have an indoor sandbox or what?? I understand that due to the amount of toys and playing and such, that it will be dirtier but run a vac or swifter over it at the end of each day and it will eliminate the spreading of dirt. Could also try a fuzzy rug at doors entrance. That may catch most of it.
  4. It's hard to fathom how the toddler's room can get so dirty that you can see it in other rooms. You wouldn't be obsessing about cleanliness, would you? In any case, if the room is exclusively the child's, then it often works better from a parenting point of view if you can let them be the master of their own domain. Yes, you can set certain standards, but I'd recommend limiting them to issues of safety, and not much more. We did that with our son and yes, he left it messy off and on for a few years, but when he grew older, he began to spiff it up all on his own. He learned that his friends (and later his girlfriend) didn't care much for having to walk around junk on the floor, or the clutter on surfaces. Sometimes less parenting (or the Socratic method of asking questions) is more effective than constantly engaging in power struggles. Good luck!
  5. First make the rule NO shoes past the front door. Buy bins and label them with either cute pic's or words. Help them to organize them and work on clean as we play method. If they are done with the trucks and it is time to play with something else..put up the trucks first. You have to give a reward for doing this. Keep your mind open to kids are a whirlwind,,but it can be contained.
  6. okay if you live in a house.. put 85% of her toys in a box and put it in the basement... Then put her in time out when she doesnt put away the toys she already has out.. And reward her for when she does good at keeping her toys put up.... and also get her the kind of broom that they use in the movie theaters to get the dirt up.. she will know how to work it
