How can you make a room look gothic without using paint or major accessories?
My parents won't let me decorate in extreme but I hate my room and are looking for ways to create a darker, more beautiful place, rather than a little kid's place. Are there any simple things I can do to bring out the gothic side in my room?

- Buy curtain rods that look like cast iron--drape black netting over curtain rod...buy like 4 yards more than the width of your window: hang it long on one side, tie it in a loose knot in one corner, then drape over the rod in a loose spiral and knot it at the other end...short one one side, long on the other--asymmetrical.
- I would buy some blank canvases and paint them all black and then paint something emotive on them. Then hang those up on the walls. You can also buy some pillows and bed coverings and just cover them with materials you like. I wouldnt go too hog wild with making the room too dark as I used to love dark emotional rooms as a kid which has now evolved into rooms like this one: http://www.utahluxury.com/2008/02/06/refined-mountain-rustic-lodge/ Which as you can see has a much more grown up but still dark feel to it. I think of the style as more romantic than Gothic.
